Teen stance, guard and cue response
Start with the positions that make every later action easier to understand.
Open session
Before the round: An adult checks the fixed mount, floor clearance and target reach, then stays present.
- Warm up shoulders and rehearse a balanced stance for 2 minutes.
- Practice guard, one straight punch and a full return without chasing speed.
- Complete 3 × 60 seconds of light single-punch cue work with 45 seconds recovery.
- Use one coaching cue per round: balance, wrist position or return to guard.
- Finish with one easy round where stopping immediately matters as much as hitting.
Progress when: the teenager can identify the cue, align the punch, recover guard and remain balanced across all three rounds.
